Lauryn Hill entered the entertainment world with several high profile projects that included a soap opera stint on As The World Turns in 1993. The Brooklyn native was born to jazz musician, Olu Dara, and began writing raps at age nine. By 1992, Nas had secured a recording deal with Columbia Records who released his debut album in 1994.
