Florida Memorial University Celebrates Spring 2022 Graduates
Florida Memorial University will host its commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 14, 8 a.m. at the FMU Clock Tower Pavilion, 15800 NW 42nd Avenue, Miami Gardens, Fla.
“We are honored to come together to recognize the many accomplishments of our graduates and to mark their passage into the company of scholars,” said Dr. Jaffus Hardrick, President of Florida Memorial University. “Saturday’s commencement belongs to our students, and we want to make this a celebratory and memorable occasion.”
The university announced actor and comedian Joe Torry will be this year’s keynote speaker. Torry, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006, is considered a living legend. Not only has he appeared in dozens of movies and television shows he is a humanitarian and philanthropist. In 1996, Torry established the “Giving Back The Love Foundation” in his hometown of St. Louis, Mo., and helped thousands through his youth and community programs.
FMU will award more than 180 bachelor's and master’s degrees to its Spring 2022 gradates.
Founded in 1879, Florida Memorial University is the only Historically Black College and University in south Florida. FMU is a private, coeducational, culturally diverse institution that offers 28 undergraduate programs, four graduate programs, and several professional programs.
